Warren’s Journey

I grew up in a small town in Vermont, with a graduating high-school class of thirty-one students. I then attended an undergraduate-only institution in Vermont, with minimal research activity on campus. Working as the only student in my undergraduate lab was fun and challenging, as it provided me with hands on training from my mentor, but did not provide the environment typical of a lab with graduate students. In-between school years, I worked summers at the University of Vermont which exposed me to the day-to-day life of graduate students in larger labs.

Transitioning to an R1 institution for graduate school has been exciting and fast paced. I hope that BRIDGE will help connect those from smaller institutions, and make graduate school more enjoyable, and fulfilling for those involved.
